Nison Alcinor, a graduate with a Master’s degree in water resources and environmental engineering, puts scientific research at the service of sustainable water management and the fight against erosion in Haiti.
Haitian civil engineer Nison Alcinor has just earned a Master’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM), one of the leading universities in the Caribbean. Through his academic career and research, he aims to contribute to better management of natural resources and the reduction of environmental risks in Haiti.
In an interview with Juno7, the young engineer looks back on his career path, his professional experience and the research he has devoted to soil erosion and sedimentation in the Grey River basin, in the West Department.
Nison Alcinor holds a degree in civil engineering obtained in 2019 from the Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (UTESA) in the Dominican Republic. He began his career at the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA). Between 2019 and 2022, he held the positions of intern and then consultant engineer there.
According to him, this field experience allowed him to better understand the challenges facing Haiti in the areas of drinking water, sanitation and hydraulic infrastructure.
